May notes from the Board

The Preserve Board met Monday, May 16. A review of the Treasures report was approved as were the minutes from the April meeting.

Several announcements to take note of. Monday, May 30th there will be a Memorial Day Service again starting at 11:30. It will take place at the Flag Pole area at the Amenities Center area. Denny Lewis is once again organizing a program that will salute our Military past and present. Last year a large crowd attended and provided many positive comments, so plan now to participate this year.

The Pool is Open! Headed up by Pool committee Chairs Rita and Allen Roth and a host of volunteers, the pool is all set up and ready to go. Please make sure you verse yourselves with the guidelines for pool usage for a safe and enjoyable season. A Pool Opening party is set for Saturday, June 4th (see details in newsletter announcement). A different twist this year, very casual as a variety of Food Trucks will provide the grub, along with games and Bouncy House for the kids. Also, adults, those wanting adult beverages, it’s BYOB (NO GLASS!!)

A Reserve Study will be conducted on Thursday, May 26. The company will be on site to review property and meet with Committee Chairs where needed. John Pavlecich is the Board member heading up the Reserve Fund review.

Neighborhood Outreach reports that we have 15 recent new families as residents in The Preserve. A warm welcome to all who have moved in recently.

An update from the Grounds committee shared that as part of regular property tour with our maintenance company, an increase of yard waste dumped onto empty lots visible from the street is occurring. This is prohibited. If you or your Lawn Service are guilty, please take notice and find alternatives to dumping waste on undeveloped lots, as this is private property. Also, do not leave clippings, leaves, etc. in the street. Avoid dumping any yard waste around Storm Retention ponds of Swells as this can cause serious damage, especially with hard rains as have occurred recently. Avoid overnight Street parking if at all possible. Early morning traffic with cars headed to work and school has increased as the number of construction vehicles and maintenance crews with trucks and trailers. Help avoid traffic hazards where possible.

As shared previously, this could be the last Preserve Perspective. It is not the Board’s decision to discontinue and we are looking in earnest for a solution. Long time Editor Phil Vasko and recent assistant Becky Oleson are ending their duties. On behalf of the Board, I offer a hearty thank you to Phil for his years of service and to Becky for her assistance. If anyone is interested in seeing the newsletter continue in its current format, now is the time to step forward. Contact a Board member.

School will be out soon and that means more children on the streets, sidewalks and play areas. Please, watch your speed and obey stop signs. Safety First!

The next POA Board meeting will be on 20 June, 2016 at 6pm in the POA Club House.
